THIS IS REALLY GOIN DOWN YALL

Frequently Asked Questions

Anvil Ranch.jpg

Q:  Where am I going?

A:  Anvil Vineyard & Ranch, in the lovely Annapolis, CA.  Check it out at http://anvil-ranch.com/  (We actually don’t know if Annapolis is lovely – Anvil is in the middle of nowhere as far as we can tell and may actually be the only thing in the “town” of Annapolis.  In which case, it is, in fact, lovely.)

Q:  How will I get to your awesome (but remote) venue?

A:   Check out the Shuttle Schedule page!

Q:  Is this happening inside or outside?

A:  100% outside.  Bring a sweater in case it’s chilly at night- expected weather is mid-70s during the day and low 50s at night.

Q:  What should I wear?

A:  Our dress code is wedding casual.  In the grand tradition of wedding dress codes, this phrase has no universal meaning so here are some guidelines to help you out:

  • No jeans, unless they’re REALLY nice and you’re rocking a killer jacket on top that would look weird with other pants.
  • Here’s a good reference for what “wedding casual” means to us.  Look at these tastefully attired C-list celebrities:

Of course, if you have a sick suit or sequined gown that you’ve been dying to bust out, go to town my dudes.

Q:  Am I going to break my ankle if I wear my Louboutins?

A:  Maybe – there are unpaved paths, uneven surfaces, and grass involved here.  You do you, but we would recommend going with something less precarious.

Q:  This place is a ranch, right? Can I bring my dog?

A:  Yes, it’s a ranch. No, you can’t bring your pupper. There’s a ranch dog who runs the joint and doesn’t want any interlopers. Leave the furry kids at home.

Q:  What if my kids are, well, human?

A:  Sorry, they can’t come either.  (While we’d love to have your kidlings join us, the ranch is really not child-safe, and this is an adults-only shindig. If you need a babysitter in the area, Joanna’s Nannies comes highly recommended: http://joannasnannies.com/)

Q:  Can I bring a date?

A:   Here's the thing… because we have so many wonderful friends and family members, we've had to be creative in making sure that we can fit everyone in our venue.  We also really want it to be a cozy event full of the people we know and love.  So only the people whose names appear on the save-the-date/invite envelope are asked to RSVP please.  (We’ve only sent save the dates so far, but invites will be coming closer to the wedding date).

Q:  What do I do if I have food allergies/special dietary requirements?

A:  Shoot Lisa an email.

Q:  What time is the ceremony and how late is this shindig going to go?

A:  The ceremony is at 5:00 p.m.  As for how late it’s going to go, we’re lucky to have one of the few venues with no required end time, so it pretty much goes as late as we want.   The last shuttle back will be at 11:00 pm.

Q:  Is there a gift registry?

A:  Your presence at our wedding is gift enough.  It's out of the way, and we know some of you will be buying plane tickets, renting cars, etc. to get out to help us celebrate, so please don’t feel obligated to also give us a gift.  If you really want to give us a gift, we’ll be heading to Australia for our honeymoon and any funds will be spent on such memorable activities as wallaby snuggles, koala petting, and/or Paul’s surfing lessons.
